The Full Installation
Once the stand and pan situation was sorted, here’s how the installation came together:
- Installed a new dedicated shutoff valve for the water heater
- Connected the vent first — the vent is a fixed point that everything else has to work around, so it goes in before the water lines
- Installed a thermal expansion tank — a requirement on closed plumbing systems that protects both the water heater and the home’s pipes from pressure buildup
- Piped in the cold water supply with a new shutoff valve
- Connected the hot side out
- Used ProPress fittings throughout for secure, reliable connections
- Taped all vent pipe connections and inspected every joint as the system filled
